Formula E Jakarta: Dominant, Maximilian Guenther Rebut Pole
JAKARTA - Racer Maserati MSG Racing Maximilian Guenther shows his dominance in the 10th round of Formula E at the Jakarta International E-Prix Circuit (JIEC) Ancol, Saturday, June 3.
After becoming the fastest in the free practice session, Guenther then secured pole position to start the race from the front row.
"It feels good to win my first pole after finishing in first place in this free practice (FP) and pole session. I am even more excited to go through the main race later," said Guenther, Saturday, June 3.
Guenther beat Jake Dennis (Avalanche Andretti) in the final round of qualifying which was quite fierce. If Guenther is eyeing the first pole in his racing career, Dennis is trying to get his first pole position this year.
The two of them tried to put pressure on each other. However, Guenther, who is also the fastest rider in the FP1, FP2, qualification, and quarter-final and semi-final duels in Jakarta, appeared calmer.
Guenther also recorded the fastest time of 1 minute 08.141 seconds. Meanwhile, Dennis was only slightly adrift of the German rider with a time difference of 00.341 seconds.
Maserati's car looks very strong, so it was a pretty challenging race. But, I came here trying to win," said Dennis.
The pole Guenther's achievements made him at the forefront of the starting grid for the 10th round of Formula E this ninth season.
