Elon Musk: Tesla's Next Big Factory In Mexico Could Be India
Giga Factory is the name of the factory used by Tesla to produce their electric cars. So far there are three large factories in the United States, one in Germany, and one in China.
Currently, company facilities in Fremont in the US and Shanghai have exceeded their maximum capacity, but factories in Berlin and Austin are still in the process of increasing production to pursue an annual production target of 1.8 million vehicles globally.
Elon Musk recently in an interview with the Wall Street Journal revealed that there will be more locations for the next assembly plant to be announced by the end of 2023.
"Well, we did make an announcement that Mexico will be the next factory site outside the US, we chose location and everything, so that's how it is. And then, we'll probably pick another location towards the end of this year," he said.
Interestingly, when asked about India's interest, Musk replied that India could be. However, this issue of India has not been confirmed and this could be a location that will be announced waiting for the end of the year.
Musk previously also met President Emmanuel Macron at the G7 Summit, to discuss Tesla's possible investment in France.
When the G7 Summit Musk said that Tesla would invest in European countries at some point, with no further details.
