20 Jambi Residents Involved In Online Judi Case Arrested By Malaysian Police, Indonesian Embassy In Negotiations
A total of 20 Jambi residents were arrested for being operators of online gambling in Malaysia. They were secured by the Malaysian Police as witnesses.
Jambi Governor Al Haris said the information came from the Jambi Provincial Government (Pemrov) who contacted the Indonesian Embassy (Kedubes) in Malaysia.
"Because online gambling in Malaysia is prohibited, they are trapped as online gamblers," Al Haris told a number of media in Jambi.
Information found that three Jambi residents were arrested in Kuala Lumpur and 17 others were in Malacca.
Al Haris said that currently the Indonesian Embassy in Malaysia is communicating with the Malaysian Police so that those who are detained are not subject to criminal charges but only immigration cases.
This is based on VISA, dozens of Jambi residents have the status of melancong, not working.
"The Jambi Provincial Government is trying to go through the Embassy for them, the harm is immigration error and it is also hoped that they can go home soon, be deported, that's the point," he said.
