Pekanbaru BPBD Records 10.8 Hectares Of Burned Land During 2023
PekanbarU - Pekanbaru City Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) noted that from early January to 20 May 2023 there had been 20 cases of total land fires that burned up to 10.8 hectares.
"So from January 20 to May 20, 2023, there have been 20 land fires with a total of 10.8 hectares of burned land," said Pekanbaru City BPBD Chief Executive Zarman Candra as reported by ANTARA, Wednesday, May 24.
Therefore, residents are reminded not to clear land by burning. Moreover, the capital city of Riau Province is currently entering extreme weather with a fairly hot temperature.
"We continue to socialize this to residents, don't open the land by burning it. Because with the weather temperature that is quite hot, it is feared that the fire could spread," he said.
Then when there is a land fire, Zarman continued, residents can immediately report it to the BPBD Call Center. Every report that comes in will be immediately followed up in the field to carry out handling and extinguishing.

Based on data from the Riau BPBD until May 2023, forest and land fires in Riau were recorded at 430.46 ha.
The district with the widest forest and land fires in Bengkalis Regency covering an area of 175.46 hectares, followed by Dumai City 98.97 Ha, and Indragiri Hilir (Inhil) Regency covering an area of 43.50 Ha.
Furthermore, Pelalawan Regency 31.18 Ha, Siak 13.95 Ha, Rohil, 38 Ha, Pekanbaru 10.18 Kampar 7 Ha, Inhu 2.15 Ha, Meranti 9.75 ha. Only Kuansing and Rokan Hulu regencies have zero forest and land fires.
