Authority Affirms IKN Development Pays Attention To Wildlife Sustainability
The Capital Authority of the Archipelago (IKN) emphasized that the development of IKN in parts of North Penajam Paser Regency and Kutai Kartanegara Regency, East Kalimantan Province, continues to pay attention to the sustainability of wildlife.
"We ensure that the preservation of wildlife is in the new capital city of Indonesia," said Deputy for Environment and Natural Resources of the IKN Authority, Myrna Asnawati Safitri, as reported by ANTARA, Monday, May 22.
He said the commitment of the IKN Authority to create a forest city in the new capital city called Nusantara was by making a policy to protect wildlife. in the area, among other things, a new animal corridor will be built on the KN Indonesia Toll Road by design according to the behavior of wildlife in the local area.
The wildlife Corridor that will be built is located on the IKN Nusantara Toll Road segment 3B Kaltim Kariangau Terminal (KKT) Kariangau-Tenpadung Intersection and the 5A Simpang Tempadung-Jembatan Pulau Balang segment.
The two segments will connect the new Indonesian IKN with the City of Balikpapan and the Kariangau Industrial Estate (KIK) and cross four animal corridors around the Wain River.

"The toll road is in the south of IKN crossing four animal corridors as connecting the City of Balikpapan-KIK and IKN Indonesia," he explained.
"Animal corridors are built to ensure the safety of wildlife passing through and habitatizing in the area," he continued.
The road-shaped animal corridor is provided so that wildlife can still move without being disturbed by the existence of the IKN Nusantara Toll Road.
The plan to build an animal corridor on the new Indonesia IKN Toll Road was designed by the Ministry of Public Works and Public Housing (PUPR).
"Animal corridors can be above or below depending on conditions on the ground or geographical situation and the environment around the toll road," said Myrna.
