UGM Researchers Reveal Google Bard's Advantages Compared To ChatGPT

JAKARTA - Researcher from Gadjah Mada University (UGM) Sunu Wibirama said that Google Bard chatbots have a number of advantages over ChatGPT, which is related to updating the database used.

"As for the ChatGPT, the database is until 2021, while Bard is accessing the online data source owned by Google search engines so that it is more real time," he told Antara in Yogyakarta, Wednesday.

He explained, Google Bard, which is based on Artificial Intelligence (AI) or artificial intelligence, responds to orders through text (prompt) with natural results like humans and has intentions according to a certain purpose and purpose. Meanwhile, ChatGPT is considered to have responded in a more formal format.

In addition, Google Bard services are also known to be free of charge, aka free compared to paid ChatGPT to get services in full.

Sunu said that the phenomenon of the presence of AI chatbots will also create opportunities and challenges in several aspects of human life.

According to him, business-related opportunities are obtained through the ease of information and data sources provided instantly so that they are more efficient.

"This machine is designed to automate quickly something that was previously done over and over again. It is estimated that it will change the business landscape in the world," said Sunu, who is affiliated with the Department of Electrical Engineering and Information Technology, the Faculty of UGM Engineering.

He further said that AI chatbots have an impact on several fields and professions related to literacy such as education, writers, customer service and others.

Other impacts are also predicted to occur in the marketing, arts, creative industry, and media sectors related to information and communication technology.

As is known, Bard is a chatbot software for artificial intelligence to be a generative conversation developed by Google.

Bard is designed to be able to collaborate with users to help in various tasks, such as writing, translating, and creating creative content.

Bard is still in the development stage, but Google has shown many promises to be a very useful tool for users.
