Haedar Nashir Asks For Political Splits In The 2024 Election To Be Prevented: Don't Be Excessive Fanatic
The General Chairperson of the Muhammadiyah Central Executive Haedar Nashir asked all elements to maintain harmony and respect each other so that differences in political choices in the 2024 General Election do not trigger national divisions.
"Emilu itu setiap lima tahun selalu terjadi. Seharusnya kita semakin dewasa," tegas Haedar di Sampit, Kalimantan Tengah dilansir ANTARA, Rabu, 17 Mei.
Haedar visited Sampit to attend the Inauguration of Muhammadiyah Sampit University (Umsa). His arrival at Sampit was the second time this had been done in 2001.
He said political choices may be different, but not to let political differences divide as a nation. Just enjoy the democratic process maturely, but don't run away from ideological matters and political hostility.
Haedar responded to the increasing national political temperature ahead of the 2024 election, he invited all parties to oversee morally and socially so that the election contestation would run normally honestly, fairly, and dignifiedly.
According to him, one of the keys to election success lies with election organizers, including the government and the TNI/Polri. Organizers are expected to be able to position themselves fairly, objectively, and as good referees. If there is partiality it will be a problem.
Community groups, he said, should make elections a normal contestation, as if watching football or other sports matches which in the end will be won and lost.
Viewing normal contestation and continued Haedar is very important so that people are not too heavy a burden in interpreting elections. If it is too excessive, it is feared that they will become blind fanatics.
"Political choices are indeed everyone's commitment, but don't be too fanatical, then make the election very difficult," he explained.

He asked for a good ecosystem to be built. If there are provocations, statements from figures or anyone who provokes the situation, the ecosystem must try to embrace campuses, community organizations, religious organizations, and the mass media so that it becomes a good channel of such situations.
National and regional figures, he said, are expected to provide coolness in every attitude taken. People need to treat healthy political competition as a lesson, not vilifying each other.
"Don't let there be statements, if this is the winner, Indonesia is threatened, for example. On the other hand, if this is the winner then Indonesia will be guaranteed. It will bring too much political atmosphere to 'alurm'. We bring political contestation to be more reasonable and mature. Our nation must be smart," he said.
Haedar said that differences are a gift such as in the spirit of Bhinneka Tunggal Ika. However, it is natural that what is prioritized is to strengthen unity based on the attitude of tolerance, tolerance, and a big soul.
