Islamic Hospital Ibnu Sina Pekanbaru Fires LGBT Employees Who Abuse Patients
PEKANBARU - Ibnu Sina Islamic Hospital in Pekanbaru City, Riau, dismissed an employee who was suspected of sexually harassing one of the patients with the initials D.
Director of RSI Ibnu Sina Pekanbaru, dr. Tryanda Ferdyansyah explained that his party had taken action by firing the employee who is a spiritual officer after conducting a series of investigations.
"This incident is allegedly carried out by contract employees who have only worked for 10 months. This is a big disaster for RSI Ibnu Sina Pekanbaru," he said as quoted by ANTARA, Wednesday, May 10.
At RSI Ibnu Sina provides gender segregation services so that male patients are only served by male medical personnel as well, and vice versa. But unexpectedly this is still a gap for the alleged perpetrators to practice LGBT (Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender).
Tryanda said, RSI Ibnu Sina Pekanbaru strongly opposes cases of sexual harassment, let alone LGBT. During its 43 years of existence, one of the private hospitals in Pekanbaru ran based on Islamic sharia values, both the value of the rules and service procedures.
"The actual gender segregation service is to prevent incidents of sexual harassment. However, this is something that is beyond reason and outside of norms, which is done to the same sex," he continued.

Tryanda assessed that this incident shows that LGBT is a big problem, has even infiltrated health institutions. It could even threaten the Indonesian nation.
This problem has become a new homework for RSI Ibnu Sina Pekanbaru so that similar cases will not happen again.
Regarding the legal process, he said RSI Ibnu Sina had coordinated and collaborated with Pekanbaru Police in the smooth investigation. Several surveillance camera footage around the location has been secured.
"We support the follow-up to the legal process in this case. We have also apologized to the families of the victims. Because even though this was done by an individual, this inappropriate incident happened in our hospital," he said.
