Dharmasraya Residents Who Fell Into The Batanghari River Were Found Dead

A resident of Jorong Harapan Mulya II, Nagari Koto Beringin, Dharmasraya Regency, West Sumatra (West Sumatra) Sumiatun (43) who was swept away after plunging into the Batanghari River on Monday (8/5) was found dead.

Koto Baru Police Chief, AKP Hendriza said the victim was found in the Batanghari River area of Tanjung Pucuk Jambi area, XII Koto District, Tebo Regency, Jambi.

"The victim was found this morning by the community, about 10 kilometers from the starting point of the victim being swept away," he said as quoted by ANTARA, Wednesday, May 10.

He said that after receiving the information, the Joint SAR team from Basarnas, BPBD, TNI, Polri immediately evacuated the victim to the Tiumang Health Center, then handed it over to the family.

"Alhamdulillah, the search paid off on the third day, the victim's body was found by residents to be floating and intact. After we checked and confirmed to the family, it was true that the victim was his family," he said.

He stated that the motive for the housewife was to end her life by deliberately plunging into the Batanghari River, an investigation was still underway.

Previously, Sumiatun (43) reportedly jumped from a bridge in Nagari Sungai Langkok, Tiumang District. When he plunged into the Batang Hari River, he was seen by residents passing by.

"Residents saw and even tried to help the victim, besides that the victim's motorbike was also left on the bridge," said Wali Nagari Koto Beringin, Tiumang District, Suherman.

The victim's body has been handed over to the family after a post-mortem at the Puskesmas, then a funeral process is carried out.
