Launching The Concept, Renault 5 Twins From Alpine Will Be Produced Starting In 2024

JAKARTA - After the parent company Renault Group released an electric-powered Renault 5, Alpine introduced a model concept with the same base as the name A290_men.

This concept car is a preview version that will be the forerunner of Renault's next Hot Hatch segment production model in 2024. The concept was founded on Renault's CMF-B platform.

"The A290_Car is the first phase in the new Alpine era, the first step towards 'Dream Garage' all-electric by 2024. This urban car has rewrited the guidebook for hot electric hatches," said Laurent Rossi, CEO of Alpine in an official statement.

Despite taking the base from Renault 5 EVs, there are differences between the two. The A290_19 offers a sporty look and is covered by thick bodywork. On the back, the lights are made more vertical which even resembles the original version of Renault 5 old age.

Carbon fiber material is also dominant in the engine hood, car roof, and the bottom of the A290_men from the back end to the front end.

In the legs, Alpine trusts other French products, Michelin as a tire supplier on the hot hatch concept and production model next year. While the design is quite radical, it is likely that the production version will have a new face than the concept.

Although Alpine has not provided specifications regarding its latest hot hatch, the manufacturer embeds stiffer suspension settings, providing three driving modes (wet, dry, full), and Brembo brakes taken from Alpine A110.

Measuring 4.05 meters long, 1.8 meters wide, and 1.48 meters high, this concept car has other uniqueness, which is provided with three front seats and a driver seat in the style of the legendary supercar, McLaren F1.

The interior is also made more practical and minimalist with a wheel in a rather boxy shape as with a concept car in general.

Alpine will launch its production version in 2024 joining the GT-X Over crossover and a replacement candidate for the electric-powered A110 to be developed by Lotus.
