COVID-19 Update As Of May 8: 1,149 New Cases, 21,909 Active Cases
JAKARTA - The COVID-19 Handling Task Force released the latest additional positive cases of COVID-19 as of today. A total of 31,909 specimens were examined with the results of 1,149 new positive cases of COVID-19.
"The total accumulation of positive cases since COVID-19 was discovered in Indonesia has reached 6,788,503 people and active cases have increased by 667 to 17,829 cases," said COVID-19 Task Force data, Monday, May 8.
Today's recovered cases increased by 1,795 people, bringing the total to 6,609,194 recovered people. Then, positive confirmed cases who died increased by 21 cases and a total of 161,480 people.
The province with the newest cases is DKI Jakarta with 335 cases and a total of 1,561,939 cases. Followed by West Java with 222 new cases with a total of 1,247,156 cases. East Java 181 new cases and a total of 644,974 cases. Central Java 124 new cases and a total of 660,161 cases.
The province with the most recovered cases today belongs to DKI Jakarta with an additional 721 recovered cases. Followed by East Java with an additional 246 recovered cases, West Java with an additional 223 recovered cases, and Central Java with an additional 160 recovered cases.
In addition, the number of specimens that had been examined using RT-PCR, TCM, and antigen reached 116,580,860.
"Positive results per number of people examined or this week's positivity rate of 9.94 percent", he wrote.

The number of people suspected of contracting COVID-19 or who are currently categorized as suspected cases was recorded at 993 people. Currently, 34 provinces have had cases of COVID-19.
To date, 203,836,782 people have received the first dose of COVID-19 vaccination and 174,879,679 people have received the second dose of vaccination.
