Support Investigation Of Woman Cases Falling From Kualanamu Airport Elevator, Erick Thohir Will Fire Directors?

JAKARTA - SOE Minister Erick Thohir admitted that he supports the ongoing investigation into the case of a woman falling from an elevator at Kualanamu Airport, Medan.

"I support the investigation. I also support how to improve the existing system, because this is a public service," he said when met at the Ministry of SOEs, written Thursday, May 4.

However, Erick emphasized that he did not immediately dismiss the airport management directors. The reason, because it is too early to dismiss.

Furthermore, Erick said the decision regarding airport management would be made after the investigation was completed.

"But if I say 'oh, the directors are immediately fired', it's too early, right, we are waiting for an investigation," he said.

Furthermore, Erick assessed that there may be mistakes that could occur. However, Erick stressed that he was waiting for the results of the investigation.

"Was there a mistake? Yes, maybe. We'll see the results later, but the process of meeting the family with Angkasa Pura Aviasi happened," he said.

On the other hand, Erick also expressed his condolences to the families of the victims for the incident.

"I am certainly as a minister, I am sorry for the incident that I feel is not good," he said.

For your information, a female congregation named Asiah Shinta Dewi Hasibuan (43) was found under the elevator inside the Kualanamu Airport terminal on Thursday, April 27.

It is known that Asiah has been trapped there since Monday, April 24.

The Ministry of Transportation through the Directorate General of Civil Aviation has also asked PT Angkasa Pura Aviasi as the sole accountable operational person at Kualanamu Airport to increase the security aspect.

The Director General of Civil Aviation, M. Kristi Endah Murni, said that his party had communicated with PT Angkasa Pura Aviasi regarding the discovery of the body.

Kristi admitted that she had sent a warning letter to PT. Angkasa Pura Aviasi is obliged to ensure safety, security, and service at the airport.

"We have spoken with the airport operational person in this case Angkasa Pura Aviasi, for that I have ordered to further improve aspects of safety, security, and comfort at the airport and immediately repair damaged facilities," Kristi said in an official statement, Sunday, April 30.
