Renault Express Software Architecture For 2026 To Compete With Tesla

JAKARTA - Many manufacturers are trying to compete even if it can exceed the achievements of electric vehicle company from the United States (US), Tesla. Some of these manufacturers include Renault.

Quoted from Reuters, Monday, April 24, 2023, the French automotive company is working on the latest software architecture for its future vehicle for 2026 which Tesla claims will level.

However, Luca De Meo, as CEO of Renault, said Tesla would be a short-term challenge and his side would not be involved in price wars in the electric vehicle segment.

In line with the boss, Gilles Le Borgne, as Renault's Chief Engineer, said that his party does not want to sell cars at affordable prices and will offer more attractive things in the future.

"We don't want to do what we did in the past, we want to sell our car, we don't want to give our car for free," said Gilles.

The software architecture will later become Renault's future electric vehicle entity, namely "Ampere".

The software is developed with Google Inc's Alphabet and Qualcomm Inc technology, which will reduce complexity by allowing it to have only 20 processors to run the car.

Renault claims that the software approach is similar to Tesla for 2026, which is expected to be at the same level as that developed by Tesla.

"By 2026, we will be at Tesla's level in software-defined vehicles," added Le Borgne.

It is hoped that the update could increase the selling value in Renault's next model, by supporting the company's price appeal, and avoiding research and development costs of 1.5 billion euros (approximately IDR 2.47 trillion) in a decade.
