Minister Of Agriculture Ensures Availability Of Eggs Ahead Of Eid 2023 Is Sufficient

JAKARTA - Minister of Agriculture (Mentan) Syahrul Yasin Limpo (SYL) ensured that the availability of chicken eggs ahead of Eid Al-Fitr was in a safe condition after visiting the livestock company PT Cahaya Mario Group in Sidrap Regency, South Sulawesi (Sulsel).

"Here every day we are able to produce one million eggs that can meet local, regional and national needs. So we make sure the availability of eggs ahead of Eid will be safe," said Minister of Agriculture SYL, quoted by ANTARA, Sunday, April 16.

According to the Minister of Agriculture, so far the chicken egg farm in the company has considerable benefits because guidance for people's breeders continues to be carried out. In addition, the facilities and infrastructure for production at the farm have been very good because they use mechanization technology.

"In this company, the development of people's chicken farmers also continues because the production is also quite good. So on behalf of my country, I continue to encourage egg production here to continue to increase," he said.

Syahrul also hopes that in the future such companies can develop to various regions to absorb more jobs and increase prosperous farmers. Thus, Indonesia will become a sovereign country in the food sector.

"Of course I hope this kind of farm can continue to spread throughout Indonesia. And I always say agriculture is very promising because it has economic value," he explained.

It was recorded that national egg production in 2023 reached 6,117,905 tons, while egg production for South Sulawesi Province reached 210,302 tons. Meanwhile, the national laying hen population is 407,980,418 heads, and for the population of laying hens (layers) of South Sulawesi Province as many as 14,024,276 heads.

The head of the company PT. Cahaya Mario, Usman Apas said that the production of eggs at his farm has now been sent outside Sulawesi, such as to Kalimantan, NTT, Maluku and Papua. In fact, according to him, the eggs produced have the opportunity to be sent abroad, aka exports.

"We represent breeders in Sidrap Regency who say that the production of chicken eggs for the people in Eastern Indonesia is quite available and we are ready to supply it as needed," he said.
