2 Parking Attendants In Medan Arrested For Asking Cash Although It's E-Parking

MEDAN - The Medan City Transportation Service has arrested two parking attendants (jukir) for violating standard operating procedures (SOP) at e-parking points (electronic parking) in Medan City, North Sumatra.

"As a result of a patrol earlier this week, we caught two parking attendants for violating the SOP for electronic parking fees," said Medan City Transportation Agency Head Iswar Lubis as reported by ANTARA, Tuesday, March 21.

The two parking attendants, he continued, were caught not equipping themselves with an e-parking payment instrument or an electronic parking payment machine.

Iswar said the parking attendants operate in two different locations, namely Letjen S Parman Street or in front of the Cambridge Hotel, and Gatot Subroto Street right in front of the Medan Fair Plaza.

Medan City Government in 2022 has determined as many as 15 companies that have the right to implement e-parking or electronic parking at 65 points in Medan, North Sumatra.

"These two e-parking attendants are still applying parking fees in cash. Meanwhile, at the e-parking location, we have made it clear that we no longer pay in cash," he stressed.

The two parking attendants were immediately taken to the Medan City Transportation Agency post for data collection and coaching so that they would no longer repeat their actions.

His party appealed to 15 companies as e-parking administrators in Medan City to equip each of their officers with e-parking payment equipment.

The Medan City Transportation Agency is targeting local revenue from parking fees of IDR 30 billion this year, including IDR 20 billion from implementing e-parking.

"This e-parking system is a program by the Mayor of Medan which has been proven to increase Medan City PAD from parking fees. We ask all parties to support this e-parking program," said Iswar.
