Head Of DKI Satpol PP Prohibits Its Members From Eid Al-Fitr Homecoming

JAKARTA - Head of DKI Jakarta Satpol PP Arifin emphasized that his staff are not allowed to go home to celebrate Idul Fitri in his hometown. This is because all Satpol PP members continue to monitor security and order during the month of Ramadan until Eid.

"Yes (Satpol PP is prohibited from going home). Activities will continue. Supervision will be increased," Arifin said when met at the National Monument area, Central Jakarta, Thursday, March 16.

During the month of Ramadan, Satpol PP usually intensifies raids for those who need social welfare services (PPKS) such as homeless people, beggars, street children, and buskers. Particularly during the month of Ramadan, the phenomenon of the rise of cart men and squandered people often occurs.

Apart from that, Satpol PP also goes around raiding unlicensed or illegal alcoholic beverage products from traders to later destroy them.

"Everything related to the discomfort that disturbs the sanctity of the month of Ramadan, we will definitely take action," said Arifin.

In addition, there will be regulations that limit or even prohibit nightclubs from operating in Jakarta. Arifin said that this action will be carried out by referring to the rules issued by the Governor.

"There are rules that regulate operating hours, there must be changes. Some are allowed to open and later some are not allowed to open. Including when welcoming Eid Al-Fitr, one day before and on D-day, and one day after the D-day has been arranged so that can't open it. Later an official letter will be issued," explained Arifin.

Today, DKI Satpol PP ranks held the Satpol PP 73rd Birthday (HUT) and Satlinmas 61st Anniversary at Monas with the Acting Governor of DKI Jakarta Heru Budi Hartono as the ceremony inspector.

In this activity, Heru hopes that all Satpol PP and Satlinmas personnel will be more responsive in enforcing the rules of public order and tranquility, accompanied by a humane attitude.

According to Heru, the city of Jakarta is the center of activity for the movement of the national economy which is the destination of livelihood for people from various regions and various backgrounds. This condition gave birth to various challenges that must be handled carefully and appropriately in order to bring peace and public order to the people of Jakarta.

"In line with the theme of this year's anniversary, namely 'Creating an Orderly and Investment-Friendly Area through Professional Satpol PP and Satlinmas', I hope that Satpol PP and Satlinmas will be more solid, responsive and humane in enforcing regulations and maintaining public order," said Heru.
