Woman Thief in Jepara Arrested, Millions of Money Confiscated
JEPARA - Jepara Regional Police, Central Java arrested the perpetrators of mugging with the target of women as victims. Evidence in the form of a wallet and cash totalling IDR 4.1 million was confiscated by the police.
"Based on the confession of the suspect with the initials IKN (22), a resident of Kuanyar Village, Mayong District, Jepara, women were deliberately chosen as the target of the victims because they were considered the easiest to act", said Jepara Police Chief AKBP Warsono accompanied by Head of Criminal Investigation Unit, AKP Ahmad Masdar Tohari, during a press conference reported by ANTARA, Wednesday, February 15th.
In carrying out this action, he said, the perpetrators knew that there were two women riding motorbikes on Desa Kalipucang Wetan Street, Welahan District, Jepara Regency, at the end of January 2023.
The perpetrator approached the victim and forcibly took valuables that were placed on the motorcycle dashboard.
At the time of the incident, the local road was deserted because the majority of residents were carrying out Friday prayers.
However, the action was known by the residents so there were residents who gave chase.
"Police members who visited the scene then secured the perpetrators along with evidence in the form of a wallet containing IDR 4.1 million", he said.

From the results of the investigation, it turned out that the perpetrators had carried out similar actions across sub-districts in Jepara Regency four times.
For his actions, the perpetrator was charged with article 365 paragraph 1 of the Criminal Code which carries a penalty of nine years in prison.
