Trial Of Unila New Student Bribery Case: Judge Reads Minutes of Investigation On PBNU Chairperson And DPR Members Entrust Prospective Students To The Director General Of Higher Education
BANDAR LAMPUNG - Chairman of the Nahdlatul Ulama Board (PBNU) Marsudi Syuhud and Member of the Commission X Budget Committee (Banggar) DPR RI Muhammad Nur Purnamasidi took part in entrusting prospective students to the Acting Director General of Higher Education (Dirjen Dikti) Nizam.
This was revealed in the Investigation Report (BAP) Number 24 belonging to the Acting Director General of Higher Education, during the trial of the defendants in the New Student Admissions (PMB) bribery case at the University of Lampung (Unila), namely Karomani, Heryandi, and M Basri, at the Corruption Court at the District Court (PN) Tanjungkarang, Bandar Lampung, Tuesday, January 31.
"This is a list of statements from you at the KPK, which stated that there were officials who entrusted students to be passed," said the head judge at the Tanjungkarang District Court, Lingga Setiawan.
He mentioned that from the list of 27 entrusted student candidates, there were Members of the DPR RI Banggar Commission X and the Chairman of PBNU.
"Are you following up on those lists of names," he said.
According to him, even though the things disclosed had nothing to do with the indictment, there was a public interest here.
"The trial, including to educate the public, is therefore open to the public, even though it sometimes contradicts Article 144 of the Criminal Code, sometimes the testimony of witnesses in public influences other witnesses. But this is in the public interest, I have to ask this," said the judge.
Acting Director General of Higher Education (Plt Dirjen Dikti) Nizam stated that not all of the names of prospective students entrusted by the two men were followed up.
"Not all of them were followed up, Your Honor, only one or two incidents. Like Mr. Muhammad Nur Purnamasidi wanting to enter the University of Indonesia (UI)," he also said.

He said the follow-up was by conveying to the Deputy Chancellor of UI to check whether the person concerned met the requirements for entry.
"Whether to enter or not is concerned, I don't follow," he said.
Nizam admitted that apart from the deposit belonging to Member of the DPR RI Banggar Commission X, there were a number of other entrusted items which he followed up.
"Maybe 10, Your Honor, for three years," he said.
In the list of deposited names that were presented at the trial, PBNU Chairman Marsudi Syuhud entrusted 24 names of prospective students to six universities, namely Brawijaya University, Airlangga University, Jember University, Jenderal Soedirman University, UIN Malang, Sepuluh November Institute of Technology, all of which were carried out in 2021 in the State Higher Education Entrance Joint Selection (SBMPTN).
Meanwhile, three other student candidates were entrusted by Banggar Member of the Republic of Indonesia DPR Commission X Muhamad Nur Purnamasidi to UI in 2020 through the National Selection to Enter State Universities (SNMPTN) as well as two other unknowns.
