Supporting the 2023 Japan Travel Fair, Bank Mandiri Aims to Increase Credit Card Transactions

JAKARTA – PT Bank Mandiri Tbk. committed to supporting the 2023 Japan Travel Fair in Jakarta on 3-5 February initiated by the Japan National Tourism Organization (JNTO).

Bank Mandiri VP Credit Card Group Noorman Andrianto said that this step was expected to boost the company's business performance in the consumer sector.

"The collaboration that has been established is a form of Bank Mandiri's support in encouraging an increase in credit card transactions which are expected to stimulate tourism," he said in a written statement on Thursday, January 26.

According to Noorman, this event is also a good opportunity to introduce various convenience transaction services from Bank Mandiri.

"Bank Mandiri will continue to strive to present a variety of attractive travel programs for customers," he said.

Noorman revealed that his party had prepared a number of attractive packages packaged in promotional programs so that customers could freely choose according to their traveling needs.

"As bank partners, we provide cashback of up to IDR 4.5 million, free tickets, up to 0 percent installments for Mandiri credit card holders," he said.

The state-owned bank is optimistic that the tourism program can further boost the growth of the credit card business in line with the lifting of restrictions on mobility at the end of last year.

For information, throughout 2022 Bank Mandiri recorded a growth in the volume of credit card transactions above 32 percent year on year (yoy). Meanwhile, the number of recorded transactions reached 43 million transactions as of December 2022.

"Last year's travel transactions have grown by more than 30 percent. This is a significant figure. We believe the repeal of PPKM and also the opening of border routes from various countries can increase credit card transactions throughout 2023," he stressed.

On the same occasion, JNTO Jakarta Executive Director Tamaki Hatakenaka was happy to be able to present the Travel Fair after being hampered by a pandemic for 2 years. It was said that this was a good opportunity to re-explore the beauty of Japan, especially after the easing of border rules.

“It's easier to go to Japan nowadays. We invite you to find the best offers. Japan is ready to welcome you," said Tamaki.
