JAKARTA - The National Police held a stadium security management course which was attended by 66 participants from the security forces, organizing stakeholders related to football in Jakarta on Wednesday (25/1) to 2 February.

Assistant for Operations (Asops) to the Indonesian National Police Chief Inspector General Agung Setyo Imam Effendi said the course was organized by the National Police in order to answer various public questions regarding how to transform Indonesian football.

"The National Police is holding this course. First, the aim is to improve the capabilities and competence of the National Police, especially in organizing (matches) and later in implementing it in the field so that they can have good competence," Agung said in a statement released by ANTARA, Wednesday, January 25.

The course was attended by 66 participants consisting of police personnel, PSSI, representatives of football clubs, the Ministry of Health, and other relevant stakeholders.

According to Agung, for nine days at the Century Hotel, Jakarta, participants received material from instructors from Coventry University, England.

Agung hopes that the knowledge transformation from the presenters' team can bring additional knowledge and skills for the organizers. Because at this time the implementation of competition security and safety is very important.

The National Police, he continued, has started to organize the implementation of security and match safety by issuing Police Regulation (Perpol) Number 10 of 2022 concerning Security for Organizing Sports Competitions.

According to him, a truly good match can be enjoyed. In realizing this, the Police cannot work alone. Collaboration is needed with PSSI and PT Liga Indonesia Baru (LIB) which accommodates League 1, 2, and 3 competitions.

Apart from that, Polri is also coordinating with the Ministry of Public Works and Public Housing (KemenPUPR) regarding the arrangement of stadiums in the context of good construction. Then together with the Ministry of Health to ensure that holding football does not pose a risk to matters related to health or death.

"That is related to how we prioritize the implementation of safety and security management in the future," said Agung.

One of the presenters from Coventry University, Prof. John Cudihy said the material presented in the focus course was to improve football in Indonesia so that it felt safe and organizers could know about security through training in both national and international security.

"This training aims to ensure that security management at the stadium can run well, especially for game spectators when watching the game so they can feel safe and comfortable," he said.

John said, the team of speakers came to Indonesia to help the National Police and other security forces, as well as the organizers for better security management, so as to reduce the risks that threaten or are unwanted in the field.

"It is a challenge for us to assist the process of managing football security in Indonesia so that it can be better in the future," said John.
