COVID-19 Update As of January 4: 597 New Cases from Examination of 41,812 Specimens

JAKARTA - The COVID-19 Handling Task Force released the latest additional positive cases of COVID-19 today. A total of 41,812 specimens were examined today. As a result, there were 597 new positive cases of COVID-19.

"The total accumulation of positive cases since COVID-19 was discovered in Indonesia has reached 6,721,692 people and active cases fell by 77 to 8,893 cases", it was quoted as saying from the COVID-19 Task Force data, Wednesday, January 4.

Today's recovered cases increased by 665 people, bringing a total of 6,552,142 recovered people. Then, positive confirmed cases who died increased by 9 cases and a total of 160,657 people.

The province with the newest cases is DKI Jakarta with 210 cases and a total of 1,536,732 cases. Followed by West Java which has 166 new cases with a total of 1,232,939 cases. East Java has 51 new cases and a total of 636,872 cases. Banten has 39 new cases and a total of 365,158 cases.

The province with the most recovered cases today belongs to Central Java with an additional 129 recovered cases. Followed by DKI Jakarta with an additional 126 recovered cases, East Java with an additional 105 recovered cases, and West Java with an additional 73 recovered cases.

In addition, the number of specimens that have been examined using RT-PCR, TCM, and antigen reached 114,050,728.

"The positive results per number of people examined or the positivity rate of people this week is 2.68 percent", it wrote.

The number of people suspected of contracting COVID-19 or currently categorized as suspected cases is recorded at 2,260 people. Currently, 34 provinces have had COVID-19 cases.

Furthermore, currently, 204,045,153 people have received the first dose of COVID-19 vaccination and 174,799,346 of the second dose of vaccination. Then, the third dose of vaccination was 68,616,692 and the fourth dose was 1,177,901. Meanwhile, the target for vaccination in Indonesia is 234,666,020 people.
