German Embassy Concerned About The Politicization Of Unauthorized Staff Visits, Affirms RI Support To Maintain Religious Tolerance
JAKARTA - The German Embassy regrets the polization of the visit of Embassy staff to the Secretariat of the Islamic Defenders Front (FPI) on December 17. This staff came to the FPI Secretariat without coordinating.
"In connection with the notification regarding the demonstration which took place on Friday, 18 December 2020, one of the German Embassy employees tried to get a separate picture of the security situation in question because demonstrations could also cross the embassy area. These employees acted on their own initiative without coordinating with the embassy, "the German Embassy statement was quoted as saying in a press release from the German Embassy, Monday, December 21.
The German embassy regretted the impression made in the public and emphasized that there was no political purpose behind the staff's visit.
“There is no political purpose behind this visit. Other statements that are contrary to this are not in accordance with the facts. The German embassy is against any attempt to instrumentalize this incident for political purposes, "said the German embassy.
The German Embassy expressed appreciation for the excellent bilateral relations and close cooperation with Indonesia. The German Embassy stressed that it did not interfere in Indonesia's internal affairs.
“We stand firm on the side of our Indonesian partners and support them in promoting inter-religious tolerance and de-radicalization efforts. We have also emphasized this in talks with the Indonesian Ministry of Foreign Affairs on December 20, "said a statement from the German Embassy to Indonesia.
