Note! December 31 In Sudirman-Thamrin Implementing Car Free Night Starting At 8 Pm

JAKARTA - The DKI Jakarta Provincial Government has implemented a car free night policy along Jalan Sudirman-Thamrin, Central Jakarta to avoid traffic congestion.

"We are implementing car free night from 20.00 to 02.00 WIB," said Head of DKI Jakarta Transportation Agency Syafrin Liputo at Jakarta City Hall, Tuesday, December 20.

To anticipate visitors carrying private vehicles and wanting to enjoy the atmosphere of New Year's Eve in the area, the DKI Transportation Agency plans to open 40 parking bags.

However, he has not provided details of the parking points provided near Jalan Sudirman-Thamrin.

The plan is for New Year's Eve celebrations in Central Jakarta to be centered in Thamrin 10 and along the strategic road, an entertainment stage will be built.

On the other hand, he appealed to people who want to enjoy the atmosphere of New Year's Eve on Jalan Sudirman-Thamrin to use public transportation.

"The capacity (parking) is quite capable, but indeed we hope that people who will visit the Sudirman-Thamrin area will celebrate the new year using public transportation services," he said as quoted by Antara.

For TransJakarta transportation, for example, he said, it was still crossing Jalan Sudirman-Thamrin, which connects corridor 1 with the Blok M-Kota route according to conditions in the field.

Regarding security, his party has coordinated with Polda Metro Jaya and Kodam Jaya.

Previously, Polda Metro Jaya prepared 8,000 personnel to guard and secure the 2022 Christmas and 2023 New Year celebrations in the Jakarta area and its surroundings.

"There are 8,000 personnel, from the police in all areas of Jakarta," said Head of Public Relations of Polda Metro Jaya, Kombes Pol Endra Zulpan.

Zulpan said that the security for Christmas and New Year this year is slightly different from the previous year because the government has reduced capacity restrictions in entertainment venues and crowded centers in the capital city.
