The KPK Calls Corruptors In The Country Convenient Because Of The Risk Of Arresting Small
JAKARTA - The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) said that the practice of rasuah in the country still occurs because the risk of finding it is very small. As a result, many state officials are corrupt.
"I see the risk of being known, the arrest of corruptors is low. This causes state officials or officials to still feel comfortable committing acts of corruption," said KPK Deputy Chairman Alexander Marwata as quoted from the Indonesian Ministry of Finance's YouTube, Wednesday, December 14.
Alexander also said that this low risk turned out to result in big income in a short time. Thus, many officials are tempted to carry out this fraudulent practice.
Even if there are officials caught doing fraudulent practices, Alexander says they are unlucky or unlucky. He also said that there was actually nothing special when the corruptors were caught red-handed in corruption.
The reason is, actually many officials practice similar but they are not caught because it is neater. "I still feel that the person who was later caught red-handed or in a corruption case was unfortunate, not an extraordinary incident. That's all," he said.
This is what makes the eradication of corruption not have a significant impact. Alexander said, his belief can be seen from the Indonesian Corruption Perception Index (CPI) which tends to stagnate in recent years.
"Indonesia's CPK has been struggling at 37-38 for the last five years, once at 40, down again 38. If we use that as a benchmark for the success of eradicating corruption, yes, it has not shown encouraging results," he said.
Thus, all parties are asked to pay attention to efforts to eradicate corruption. "This is not a matter of the KPK. No. This is our common problem," he concluded.
