Bareskrim Surati Press Council On The Status Of Journalist Edy Mulyadi Who Refuses To Be Examined By The FPI Laskar Case
JAKARTA - Bareksrim Polri has written to the Press Council regarding Edy Mulyadi's status as a journalist. This is because Edy previously refused to be questioned as a witness in the attack on the six special FPI troops who were guarding Rizieq Shihab.
"Today, Bareskrim Polri has sent a letter of clarification to the Press Council regarding the status of journalism and its media company," said the Director of General Crimes at Bareskrim Polri, Brigadier General Andi Rian in his statement, Friday, December 18.
Edy Mulyadi's refusal occurred when investigators asked about the chronology of the incident on the pretext of being protected by the Press Law Number 40 of 1999. Investigators examined him regarding the upload of the reportage on the case in the Youtube account 'Bang Edy Channel'.
Investigators consider his statement regarding the reportage to be very important for the settlement of the case of the attack by the FPI paramilitary guard against Rizieq. Because of this, investigators decided to write to the Press Council.
"Bareskrim hopes that the Press Council will respond not only to clarifications, but also directions and instructions for the Police regarding the relationship between a criminal or civil incident with journalists including journalistic products broadcast in media companies or press publishing companies," said Andi.
The examination of Edy Mulyadi was based on a summons for examination with Number: S.Pgl / 2792 / XII / 2020 / DitTipidum. In addition, based on the video report owned by Edy Mulayadi, he said that the Jakarta-Cikampek KM 50 toll road had no gunfire.
