Bank Employee In Bali, Defendant Of KUR Corruption, Charged With 7.5 Years In Prison And Compensation Of IDR 1.7 Billion
DENPASAR - The Public Prosecutor's Office of the Badung State Prosecutor's Office sentenced the defendant with the initials NAWP of seven years and six months in prison because he was deemed proven to have corrupted People's Business Credit (KUR) funds of IDR 1.7 billion in one of the state-owned banks in Badung Regency, Bali.
The Public Prosecutor of the Badung Public Prosecutor's Office considers that the NAWP defendant has been proven legally and convincingly guilty of committing a criminal act of corruption.
The public prosecutor (JPU) stated that the indictment against the defendant NAWP had considered the facts in the trial, and had also considered the aggravating and mitigating factors for the defendant.
"The public prosecutor demands that the panel of judges impose a sentence against the NAWP defendant in the form of imprisonment for seven years and six months, reduced while the defendant is in temporary detention and with an order for the defendant to remain detained, then punish the NAWP defendant with a fine of IDR 300,000,000 subsidiary six months of confinement," said the prosecutor as reported by ANTARA, Monday, November 28.
In addition, the prosecutor also ordered the defendant NAWP to pay compensation in the amount of IDR 1,761,178,577.
With the provision that if the defendant does not pay the replacement money any later than one month after the court decision obtains permanent legal force, then his property can be confiscated by the prosecutor and auctioned to cover the replacement money, in the event that the defendant does not have sufficient property to pay the replacement money, then replaced with imprisonment for three years and six months.
Regarding the evidence that has been attached to the list of evidence, the prosecutor demanded that it be returned to one of the state-owned banks in Badung Regency, namely cash in the amount of IDR 12,686,000 to be returned, which is then calculated as a substitute for calculating state financial losses.

After the agenda for reading the indictment, the defendant's legal advisory team was then given the opportunity to submit a memorandum of defense (pleidoi).
The trial will continue on Thursday, 8 December 2022, at the Corruption Court at the Denpasar District Court.
The Head of the Badung Prosecutor's Legal Information Section, I Made Gde Bamaxs Wira Wibowo, said that the trial process, which had been going on for about three months, had gone through several stages, starting with reading the indictment, then continuing with the evidence agenda.
"During the trial process, 17 witnesses, three experts, presented evidence and instructions, and the NAWP defendant himself was examined in accordance with the provisions of Articles 184 to 189 of the Criminal Procedure Code by the public prosecutor team at the Badung District Attorney," said Bamaxs.
