PLN and Several SOEs Distribute Humanitarian Aid after the Cianjur Earthquake

JAKARTA - PT PLN (Persero) together with all State-Owned Enterprises work together in assisting the victims of the Cianjur earthquake. As part of the BUMN Task Force Team, PLN continues to contribute to easing the burden of earthquake victims so that they can recover quickly.

Previously, an earthquake with a magnitude of 5.6 occurred in Cianjur Regency, Monday, November 21. In this incident, hundreds of victims died and thousands of people were injured. Not only that, many residents were materially affected by the damage to their houses and had to evacuate.

Assistance comes in the form of food items, equipment such as folding mattresses, blankets, eating utensils, toiletries, and medicines. In addition, PLN Peduli also provides tents for refugees.

PLN President Director, Darmawan Prasodjo said PLN together with the SOE Task Force Team under the direction of the SOE Minister Erick Thohir also distributed direct assistance to communities affected by the earthquake.

"We are sorry for the victims affected by the earthquake. We hope that the victim will recover quickly. This is a form of our presence and social responsibility to ease the burden on the earthquake victims in Cianjur", said Darmawan, in his written statement, Thursday, November 24.

PLN also set up an emergency tent at the Cianjur Regional General Hospital (RSUD) to accommodate patients and residents whose houses were damaged. PLN assistance in the form of a mobile kitchen was also felt directly by residents. A total of 2,000 food packages per day are distributed to residents.

In addition, 48 PLN employee volunteers, dozens of medical personnel, and logistics personnel also came directly to provide treatment and direct assistance. 2 ambulances and 1 rescue car were also deployed to continue to assist in logistics and post-disaster recovery.

As part of the SOE disaster task force, PLN has moved quickly by establishing several command posts to help victims who need medical assistance as well as distribution points for aid.

Elfandi Agustian, one of the victims, a resident of RT06 RW 15, Nagrak Village, expressed his gratitude to PLN and the SOE Task Force for the food assistance provided by PLN.

“This assistance is very useful for us and the residents in the midst of difficult conditions. Hopefully, this will be a blessing for PLN", said Elfandi.

Previously, PLN managed to restore 100 percent of the electricity system affected by the earthquake. In less than 34 hours, the electricity supply to 326,028 customers returned to normal. On Tuesday, November 22 at 23.05 WIB, 1,844 distribution substations and 21 feeders that had previously experienced disturbances successfully operated.
