Spotify Expands Audiobook Launch to Several Countries Apart from the US
JAKARTA - In June, Spotify planned to launch audiobooks, and in September, the company began rolling out more than 300.000 audiobooks to its users in the United States.
Now, audiobooks are also available for purchase on Spotify for users in the UK, Ireland, Australia and New Zealand.
The audiobook will appear with a lock icon on the play button, indicating that the audiobook must be purchased before listening to it.
Users who find audiobooks on the Spotify app will be able to purchase them on the webpage. Upon returning to Spotify, the book will be automatically saved to their library and available to listen to whenever they want.
In its initial announcement last September, Nir Zicherman, Vice President of Spotify and Global Head of Audiobooks and Gated Content said that this was only the beginning of Spotify's audiobook journey.
"We've worked hard to create a seamless audiobook experience, and we'll continue to develop and innovate on this in the future," he said when talking about the company's vision for audiobooks in the future.

Zicherman believes audio and feature-length content is a much bigger business than many people think. "Our expansion into audiobooks is an important testament to that belief." he said.
Realizing that there are still many interesting features that have not been implemented in the audiobook, Spotify promises to continue to improve it over time in the future.
Unfortunately, audiobooks are still not available in Indonesia. Spotify users in Indonesia still have to wait for the company's next audiobook expansion.
