Cooperating With The Saudi Arabian Energy Company, Pertamina NRE Kembangkan, Tuban Refinery

Pertamina New & Renewable Energy (Pertamina NRE), collaborates with energy company from Saudi Arabia ACWA Power in an effort to supply power, steam and water plants at the Grass Root Refinery and Petrochemical (GRR&P) Tuban project, East Java.

This collaboration was marked by the signing of a joint development agreement (JDA) carried out by PNRE CEO Dannif Danusaputro and ACWA Power President and CEO Padmannathan at the B20 Summit in Bali on Sunday 13 November.

Danif detailed that the scope of the JDA includes the development of a power plant with a capacity of 575 MW, a steam plant with a capacity of 3,288 tons per hour, and a water desalination plant with a capacity of 12,000 tons per hour. This will supply Tuban Grass Root Refinery and Petrochemical (GRR&P), the PT Pertamina Rosneft Processing & Petrokimia (PRPP) project.

Located in Tuban, the GRR&P project is one of Indonesia's national strategic projects in order to build national energy security and advance the domestic petrochemical industry.

"This is a strategic collaboration where Pertamina NRE will support the Tuban GRR&P project which will play an important role in building national energy security. We will support the Tuban GRR&P project by providing low-carbon solutions," said Dannif Danusaputro in his statement, Monday, November 14.

Meanwhile Padmannathan said, as a company that encourages transition, he hopes to collaborate with Pertamina NRE and can take advantage of ACWA Power's expertise in developing its water desalination.

"With climate change implementation strategies at the peak of global awareness, a unified approach that could enable decarbonization in a responsible and reliable way is key to reducing the impact of the carbon-intensive industry,"ORD.

Just so you know, the power plant of this project is part of a low-carbon solution. Pertamina megklaim, development of low-carbon solutions is one of Pertamina NRE's business focuses, along with the development of renewable energy, and building a future business. Pertamina NRE also remains committed to supporting national net zero emissions by 2060.

Meanwhile, ACWA Power has a mission to channel electricity and desalination water reliably at low costs, so that it can contribute effectively to sustainable, social and economic development of the community and country.
