Worsening COVID-19 Case, Pajajaran Sports Hall And Service Office Will Become Emergency Hospital

BOGOR - The Bogor City Government, West Java will use the official office and sports arena (GOR) for an emergency hospital to handle COVID-19.

Bogor Mayor Bima Arya Sugiarto said the city government is preparing an emergency hospital because around 83 percent of the 534 beds for COVID-19 patients available in the hospital are already filled. Covid-19 transmission cases are still increasing. The city government, according to him, has calculated the cost needed to prepare an emergency hospital in the Pajajaran Sports Hall complex.

Meanwhile, the President Director of Bogor City Hospital, Ilham Chaidir, explained that the preparation of an emergency hospital in the Pajajaran Sports Hall complex will be carried out in stages.

"The capacity (can be) about 100 beds, but it is prepared in stages," he said.

"This is to anticipate the continued increase in positive COVID-19 patients, so that COVID-19 patients in hospitals are not too full," said Ilham.

According to Ilham, the city government will also prepare an emergency room to handle COVID-19 patients at the Youth and Sports Office.

"The emergency room will be equipped with beds and medical equipment like the emergency room in a hospital," he said.

Ilham said that hospitals and emergency health facilities to handle COVID-19 patients are targeted to be used in January 2021.

According to city government data, as of December 10, 2020, the number of residents who contracted COVID-19 in Bogor City was 3,907 people. With details of 3,095 people have recovered, 702 people are still sick, and 110 people have died.
