G20 Summit Campaigns for Energy Transition, Ministry of SOEs: Not Just A Theory, Directly Pushing the EV Ecosystem

JAKARTA - The G20 Summit, which will be held in Bali, will campaign for the energy transition as a solution to climate change.

Indonesia's commitment as the host related to the energy transition was presented in the form of the use of electric vehicles during the G20 event.

The Ministry of SOEs has 3 important agendas for the success of the G20 Summit, namely global health architecture, digital transformation, and energy transition.

Various state-owned companies took part in this.

Reynaldi Istanto, an expert at the Minister of SOEs in the Global Value Chain Sector and Chair of the G20 PMO, said that SOEs' support for the energy transition is not just a theory.

However, said Reynaldi, it can be realized with various efforts made.

"We are here to support this energy transition, not just a theory, so indeed for this energy transition at the G20 summit, we will directly encourage the ecosystem rather than EVs, electric cars, electric buses, and electric motorcycles", he said at the BUMN Coffee event at the Ministry of SOEs, Jakarta, Tuesday, November 8th.

The government, continued Reynaldi, has also collaborated with electric car manufacturers such as Toyota, Wuling, and Hyundai in providing a fleet of electric vehicles. Reynaldi said a total of 962 electric cars will be used during the G20 Summit in Bali.

The Ministry of SOEs, Reynaldi said, through the State Electricity Company (Persero) and Pertamina Parta Niaga also supports the development of the Public Electric Vehicle Charging Station (SPKLU).

"Of course, where are we in SOEs? This is where SOEs through PLN and Pertamina Patra Niaga also support the development of their SPKLU or charging stations", he said.

Regarding the place to charge electric vehicle batteries, said Reynaldi, SOEs have also provided supporting infrastructure. A total of 300 charging stations in Bali are ready to support the G20 Summit.

As for the details, as many as 68 units are ultra-fast charging, 21 fast charging units, 200 home charging, and 11 bus charging.

"We also support electric buses. We are indeed here, INKA produces electric buses for the first time at the G20 Summit. It also supports 24 units of 8-meter electric buses, this is also the momentum for showcasing SOE products towards renewable energy", he said.

On the other hand, Reynaldi revealed that the government is also preparing an electric motorbike from Gesits in collaboration with Gojek. Reynaldi said, around 66 electric motorcycles were also exhibited at the G20 Summit.

"So this is our effort to encourage the energy transition at the G20 summit, this is our showcasing for energy transition", he concluded.

Meanwhile, Reynaldi said, in terms of basic infrastructure, PLN has made efforts to relocate the Grati Gas Power Plant (PLTG) to Bali by 100 megawatts (MW).

"PLN has indeed supported the reliability of electricity supply from the start rather than the G20", he explained.

Then, continued Reynaldi, there is also Telkom Indonesia which has prepared a reliable connection network at the main locations of the G20 Summit, including 5G networks at 128 points.

"There are 24 BTS built in Bali to strengthen connectivity from 5G and there are 5 compact BTS for 5G as well", he said.

Airport Revitalization

Reynaldi said that the I Gusti Ngurah Rai Airport under the management of Angkasa Pura I as the entrance for the G20 Summit guests was also being revitalized on a large scale.

"Here, the first delegation descends is the airport. Here we also carry out a major revitalization in the temple space, beautification at the international terminal, the VIP, and also the VVIP. We also pay attention to domestic issues by making improvements", he said.

Then, continued Reynaldi, Jasa Marga and ITDC also made preparations to welcome the delegates of the G20 Summit. Among them beautifying the toll road from the airport decorated with PLTS in collaboration with Bukit Asam.

"Next, we are also at Jasamarga where the main access is road access, we are repairing toll roads, beatification, and there is also a PLTS showcasing which is a collaboration between Jasa Marga and Bukit Asam", he said.

Reynaldi said, Pelindo as a logistical entry point for the G20 guests was also prepared.

According to Reynaldi, the Ministry of State-Owned Enterprises has also started to open cruises to dock in Bali.

"Because we have a vision, we want to make this Benoa Hub a cruise destination for local and world tourists", he said.

Furthermore, said Reynaldi, ITDC is one of the main areas of the G20 Summit series.

The Ministry of SOEs is also preparing efforts to beautify the ITDC area and build a charging station in the ITDC area to support the energy transition to renewable energy.

"We are also preparing beatification in the ITDC area and the construction of a charging station in the ITDC area to support the energy transition to Renewable Energy", he said.
