Daniel Ricciardo Willing to Become a Reserve Driver in F1 2023 for Big Ambitions in 2024
JAKARTA - Australian driver, Daniel Ricciardo, seems to have no hope of getting a seat in Formula 1 2023. He is now eyeing another position in order to realize the mission for the 2024 season.
Ricciardo is likely to become a reserve driver next year. Reportedly, he has established communication with Red Bull Racing and Mercedes GP.
Although he has not confirmed the plan to become a reserve driver, the former Renault champion has given a signal there.
"I won't be on the grid next year, but I will be here (F1) because I have ambitious plans for 2024," Ricciardo said.
Ricciardo said discussions were ongoing with several teams. However, no agreement has yet been reached.
"Discussions are ongoing, but nothing has been signed yet. Nothing is guaranteed for 2024 yet, but I will do everything so I can get back."
As is known, Ricciardo no longer defends McLaren. He was sacked and replaced by Oscar Piastri.

According to Sky Sport F1, Ricciardo said he was confident he would not be behind the wheel in the 2023 season. However, he still wants to be involved in the sport and work with the team along with ambitions to return to the track in 2024.
"I think a little bit of time off the race bench will have an impact on me and then try to rebuild. That said, I'm not done yet, but I will look different," he said.
"Undoubtedly, the last two years have been tough, especially when you work really hard but it doesn't pay off, it can bring you down."
"I also think the value of the summer break, being away for a while, gives you a different perspective. It's relentless. You don't really get a chance to rebuild."
He added, "Everyone is different, but I truly believe that it is a blessing in disguise. By doing less, I will achieve more."
Observers in the paddock believe Ricciardo is prepared for Mercedes. Mercedes team boss Toto Wolff confirmed talks with Ricciardo, but he also believes the driver is meeting with another team.
"Yes, also with Red Bull Racing," said Wolff. "For us, we see he is a man with great characteristics, but we are not ready to say who our third driver will be for next season.
"His personality is a real strength and Daniel has been with us for a long time. He knows the car inside and out. That can be an advantage, but I don't want to start rumors here because the truth is we haven't decided anything yet."
