Tennis Player Aldila Sutjiadi Wins WTA 125 Doubles Abierto Tampico

JAKARTA - Indonesian women's tennis player Aldila Sutjiadi won the double title of the WTA 125 tournament in Abierto Tampico, Mexico, Saturday local time or Sunday Indonesian time.

Aldila's duet with Slovakia's Tereza Mihalikova managed to beat the United States pair Elizabeth Mandlik/Ashlyn Krueger in the final round.

Aldila/Mihalikova, who became the top seeds in the hardcourt tournament, went through the final match by winning 7-5, 6-2.

In her social media upload, Aldila revealed that the win was her first WTA level 125 title. He also thanked Mihalikova for playing together over the past week.

The title at Tampico completes Aldila's trophy collection this year. In April, the 27-year-old won the women's doubles at the WTA 250 Copa Colsanitas tournament in Bogota, Colombia, with Australia's Astra Sharma.

The win was Aldila's first WTA title. Not long ago, in May, Aldila again won the women's doubles title at the ITF Charleston tournament, in the United States, with Poland's Katarzyna Kawa.

Based on the official WTA website, this week Aldila is ranked 53rd in the WTA world doubles, becoming the highest ranking score of her career.

In the singles sector, Aldila is ranked 516, better than the previous week, while her best record is at 344 on May 24, 2021.

Apart from the touring tournament, this year Aldila also managed to defend the title by bringing home the mixed doubles gold at the SEA Games Vietnam with Christopher Rungkat.

Meanwhile, in other parts of the world, Indonesian women's tennis player Priska Madelyn Nugroho became the double runner-up at ITF W60 Playford, Australia.

Priska, who is paired with South Korea's Han Na-lae, was unable to stop the host's representatives Talia Gibson/Alexandra Bozovic in the final on Saturday which ended 5-7, 4-6.
