Waiting For Jokowi's Meeting With FIFA President

JAKARTA - President Joko Widodo is scheduled to meet with FIFA President, Gianni Infantino, today, Tuesday, October 18. This meeting is related to national football after the Malang Kanjuruhan Tragedy.

The Minister of SOEs, Erick Thohir, revealed that the meeting will discuss the transformation of Indonesian football.

"October 18, the President of FIFA will be here (Indonesia) to meet with Mr. President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) to agree on several things and we hope that the meeting will produce good results," Erick said in Jakarta, Monday, October 10.

This meeting was also stated in a letter sent by FIFA to President Jokowi, some time ago.

"Later, the President of FIFA will come to Indonesia to discuss with the government," said Jokowi in his official statement, on 7 October.

Indonesian football fans are looking forward to the meeting between Jokowi and the FIFA President. The public hopes that the meeting will be the beginning of a change in football in a better direction.

FIFA itself has sent its representatives to Indonesia. They have met with PSSI and representatives from the Indonesian government.

During the meeting, it was agreed to form the Indonesian Football Transformation team. This team contains representatives of FIFA, AFC, PSSI, Polri, and several ministries.

However, the names of the members of the Indonesian Football Transformation have not yet been announced. Reportedly, the names were discussed by PSSI with FIFA and the AFC in Malaysia, Monday, October 17, 2022.

Later, this team will take the necessary steps to improve the governance of national football.

Among them is building stadium safety standards for stadiums in Indonesia. Then formulate standard protocols and security procedures carried out by the police based on international security standards.

This team will also jointly conduct socialization and discussions with football clubs in Indonesia, including supporters' representatives, to get suggestions and input, as well as joint commitments.

In addition, they will also discuss the match schedule arrangement that takes into account the potential risks.
