Jokowi Praises Buton Sultanate for Being Able to Maintain Local Wisdom
JAKARTA - President Joko Widodo really appreciates the preservation of local traditions and wisdom in the Buton Sultanate, Southeast Sulawesi, in the midst of the current era of modernization.
"I really appreciate being cared for, maintaining customs, preserving traditions, preserving local wisdom in the Buton Sultanate," President Jokowi said in his remarks at the Conferment of the Traditional Honorary Degree of the Sultanate of Buton at the Baruga Palace of the Sultanate of Buton, Baubau, Southeast Sulawesi, Tuesday, September 27, quoted from Antara.
Although there is modernization with the entry of foreign cultures into Indonesia, the Sultanate of Buton can still maintain and care for customs, traditions, local wisdom, and local manners.
In addition, Jokowi also expressed his gratitude to the Sultan of Buton La Ode Muhammad Izat Manarfa for the title of Sultanate of Buton he received.
"I would like to express my deepest gratitude to His Majesty the Sultan of Buton Mr. La Ode Muhammad Izat Manarfa and all ranks of the traditional institutions of the Sultanate of Buton who have bestowed the title on me, namely 'La Ode Muhammad Lakina Bhawaangi yi Nusantara'", Jokowi said.
The title "La Ode Muhammad Lakina Bhawaangi yi Nusantara" means a man who has noble attitudes and behavior, is humble, polite, wise, wise, honest, fair, responsible, sets an example and role model, and has a high commitment to the welfare and prosperity of all people in Indonesia.

Also attending to accompany the Head of State in conferring the title were Cabinet Secretary Pramono Anung, Minister of Manpower Ida Fauziyah, Minister of Investment/Head of the Investment Coordinating Board (BKPM) Bahlil Lahadalia, Governor of Southeast Sulawesi Ali Mazi, and Mayor of Baubau City La Ode Ahmad Monianse.
From the Buton Sultanate Palace, Jokowi and his entourage continued their journey to the Baubau Post Office, Baubau City, to hand over Direct Cash Assistance (BLT) for Fuel Oil (BBM) and Wage Subsidy Assistance (BSU).
