Anies: A Lot Of Homework To Make Jakarta Global City

JAKARTA - DKI Governor Anies Baswedan said there is still a lot of homework (PR) that must be pursued to transform Jakarta into a global city.

"There is still a lot of homework, but we are heading there (a global city)," Anies said when giving a speech at the Abang None Jakarta 2022 final in Jakarta as reported by ANTARA, Friday, September 2.

However, Anies did not specifically mention the homework that must be fulfilled by Jakarta as a global city.

Anies said that one of the things that makes Jakarta considered equal to other global cities is that it is the largest metropolitan city in the southern part of the world.

In addition, Jakarta has successfully hosted the Urban20 (U20) forum.

"Almost all of the participants said that the best Urban20 summit was the one that took place in Jakarta yesterday. It just finished two days ago and everyone witnessed Jakarta and all of them testified that now Jakarta is on par with other global cities," said Anies.

Anies has high hopes for the younger generation, especially Abang and None Jakarta 2022, is expected to participate in advancing the capital city at the international level.

"Therefore, Abang None, who will enter the final tonight, we project that they have a duty to represent Jakarta in the context of a global city," said Anies.

For this reason, Anies also hopes that Brother None Jakarta will not only become an ambassador for tourism but also an ambassador for Jakarta as a global city.

"We project that Abang None is more than just tourism ambassadors, they are Jakarta's ambassadors. They are Jakarta's ambassadors as a global city in the world," he added.

Anies Baswedan previously declared Jakarta as a global city at the peak of the celebration of the 495th anniversary of DKI Jakarta at the Jakarta International Stadium (JIS), Saturday (25/6).

Anies explained that a number of indicators that make Jakarta worthy as a global city are supported by international standard facilities.

The facilities mentioned include international standard stadiums, sidewalks, arts, and arts centers, to public transportation facilities such as bus stops and MRT with international standards.

"This is an example of us entering a global city and we also call it global because it utilizes digital technology," he said, at JIS, Saturday (25/6).
