Tuchel Coach Says There Is Talk Of Contract Extension With Chelsea

JAKARTA - The coach of English Premier League club Chelsea, Thomas Tuchel said he was talking to the management of the Blues about a contract extension. Quoted from Sky Sports, Tuchel currently has a contract until the summer of 2024 after extending his contract at Chelsea in June 2021.

Tuchel managed to bring Chelsea to win the Champions League that year. New owners Todd Boehly and Behdad Eghbali have been impressed by Tuchel's tenure, and the new Chelsea boss is keen to keep the 48-year-old at Stamford Bridge.

"There was talk. But I think given the situation where we came from, and where we are in the middle of the transfer period, I think it's best if I focus on my team and on sport and be competitive," said Tuchel as quoted by ANTARA, Saturday, August 20.

"My people talk to the owners and take care of everything else. You know how happy I am to be here and how much I like it. So that's a good thing."

Thomas Tuchel came to Chelsea on January 28, 2021, to replace Frank Lampard and in his first year he managed to win the Champions League title after beating Manchester City 1-0 in the final.

In addition, the German coach helped lead Chelsea to their first Club World Cup title as well as the 2021/22 UEFA Super Cup. He also won the title of world's best coach in the 2020/21 season.

During his time in charge of Chelsea, Tuchel was recorded to have passed 571 days and 94 matches with a score of 60 wins, 19 draws, and 15 defeats. He also averaged 2.12 points per game.
