Improving Rupiah Education To The Public, Bank Indonesia Holds FERBI 2022
JAKARTA - Bank Indonesia (BI) will hold the 2022 Bank Indonesia Sovereign Rupiah Festival (FERBI) on 19-21 August 2022 at Gelora Bung Karno (GBK), Jakarta, in celebration of the 77th Anniversary of the Republic of Indonesia (HUT RI).
In the event, there are various activities so that people can enjoy the journey of rupiah currency through exhibitions, dialogues, entertainment, competitions, and money exchange services to the public.
"BI presents FERBI so that we as Indonesians will love, understand, and be proud of the Unitary State of the Republic of Indonesia (NKRI) through rupiah," said BI Governor Perry Warjiyo when opening FERBI 2022, quoted by Antara, Friday, August 19.
According to him, the rupiah is not only a piece of paper for payment, but the Indonesian people must truly love, be proud, and understand the rupiah. Thus, the 2022 FERBI event also intends to increase rupiah education to the public.
FERBI 2022 aims to increase public literacy about the role of the rupiah in the nation's history, foster optimism, national spirit, and strengthen state sovereignty through rupiah.

Perry Warjiyo explained that the rupiah is full of struggles and is a symbol of the sovereignty of the Republic of Indonesia. One of the pillars of the Unitary State of the Republic of Indonesia is the existence of rupiah currency as a legal tender.
"BI, in accordance with the 1945 Constitution, the BI Law and the Currency Law, is the only central bank authorized by the Indonesian people and nation to issue legal instruments of payment, in the form of paper, metal, card, or digital money," he said.
On the other hand, Perry Warjiyo mentioned that the central bank in particular also launched the BI Rupiah Treasure Book published by the BI Money Management Department, which contains the history of money from the time of the Kingdom of the Archipelago to the present.
The book consists of four series of books, the first is the theme of rupiah currency before independence, the second is after independence, the third is the journey of the rupiah to fill Indonesia's economic development since independence until now, and the fourth is rupiah to build culture and society.
