Garuda Establishes Cooperation With PPA, Fleet Restoration And Increases Flying Frequency

JAKARTA - PT Garuda Indonesia (Persero) Tbk signed a commitment to cooperate with PT Perusahaan Pengelola Aset (PPA) to optimize the fleet restoration program which will later be utilized to increase flight frequency.

The signing was held at the Garuda Sentra Operations Building, Cengkareng, Tangerang, Banten on Thursday, August 18, which was carried out directly by PPA President Director Yadi Jaya Ruchandi and Garuda Indonesia President Director Irfan Setiaputra who was also witnessed directly by Deputy Minister of SOEs II Kartika Wirjoatmodjo.

Deputy Minister of SOEs II Kartika Wirjoatmodjo said, the Ministry of SOEs supports the synergy between Garuda Indonesia and PPA as a step to strengthen the foundation and support the sustainability of Garuda Indonesia after the Suspension of Debt Payment Obligations (PKPU).

"This collaboration is a solution in an effort to accelerate the addition of flight frequencies before Garuda Indonesia receives State Capital Participation (PMN) funds," he said in an official statement, Friday, August 19.

Furthermore, Tiko as Kartika Wirjoatmodjo is familiarly called, said that the concept of this collaboration was a breakthrough that could become a new model.

"It also opens up opportunities to be applied to the SOE ecosystem by prioritizing aspects of prudence and good corporate governance, so that Garuda Indonesia can fly even higher," he said.

Meanwhile, the President Director of Garuda Indonesia, Irfan Setiaputra, said that this collaboration was to accelerate performance recovery measures.

As well as meeting the increasing need for flight accessibility after the implementation of the relaxation of community mobility during the pandemic.

The Central Statistics Agency (BPS) recorded that the number of passengers on domestic flights at Indonesia's five main airports (Soekarno-Hatta, Juanda, Ngurah Rai, Hasanudin, Polonia) in the first semester of 2022 reached 13.6 million passengers, an increase of 77 percent compared to the same period in 2022. in 2021 as many as 7.7 million passengers.

Irfan said, the increasing mobility of people in Indonesia has prompted the need for additional modes of air transportation, including Garuda Indonesia.

"This is what we continue to intensify through our efforts to increase the availability of production equipment," said Irfan.

Irfan said that this was also his own optimism for Garuda Indonesia's business continuity in the future. Especially in terms of stakeholders' trust in Garuda Indonesia's business outlook going forward and the opportunities for the Indonesian aviation market after the pandemic.

"We believe that the synergy that exists with PPA is a form of solidity in the ecosystem of the business world, especially SOEs, to continue to grow together to give their best contribution to the country," he said.

PPA President Director Yadi Jaya Ruchandi is optimistic about Garuda Indonesia's business prospects in line with the high demand for the domestic market after the pandemic.

"As an implementation of the Special Situations Fund business pillar, PPA presents a structured solution that prioritizes measurable risk management with transparent business processes and good corporate governance," said Yadi.
