Criminal Investigation Unit Dismantles Drug Network For Night Entertainment, 1 Police And Ex-Members Become Couriers
JAKARTA - The Criminal Investigation Unit of the National Police has uncovered the distribution of ecstasy narcotics at nightclubs in several cities in Indonesia. In this case, 25 people have been named as suspects, two of whom are active members of the National Police and former police officers.
"There is 1 active police officer and 1 ex-policeman", said Director of Narcotics Crime at the National Police's Criminal Investigation Department, Brigadier General Krisno H. Siregar, to reporters, Thursday, August 11.
The two police officers and former police officers act as couriers for the big drug traffickers.
Several drug networks have been dismantled. The group is controlled by two residents assisted by correctional institutions (Lapas) named Chukwudkpe and Fahrizal.
"There are 25 (suspects, ed) in total. Well, we indeed said that there were controllers here", he said.
"The Jakarta-Cirebon network has 9 suspects, the Bandung network has 10 suspects, the Medan network has 4 suspects, and the Surabaya-Bali network has 3 suspects", Krisno continued.
In smuggling, this network uses a disguise mode by packaging dog and cat food. The ecstasy drug was supplied from Germany and Malaysia.
Even though dozens of suspects have been arrested, there are still three people on the run. They have the initials BA, E, and TB.

Apart from that, the police also confiscated several pieces of evidence during the disclosure of the case. Among them, are 16,394 ecstasy pills, 40.8 grams of crystal methamphetamine, 277 Ermin Five pills, and 700 grams of cathinone.
Happy water or adulterated drugs with 16 sachets of Nutri Sari were also confiscated, and 1,330 milliliters of liquid ketamine were also confiscated.
The suspects were charged with Article 111 paragraph (2) in conjunction with Article 132 paragraph (1) of the Law of the Republic of Indonesia Number 35 of 2009 concerning Narcotics. Therefore, the suspect faces a maximum prison sentence of 20 years.
