Second Booster In West Papua Targets 8.584 Health Workers

JAKARTA - A total of 8.584 health workers in West Papua were targeted for the fourth dose of COVID-19 vaccination after 73 percent of the total health workers in the province received the first booster dose.

Head of the West Papua Provincial Health Office, Otto Parorongan in Manokwari, said that the second booster dose of COVID-19 vaccination is still prioritized for health workers who have passed six months of the first booster dose (first booster).

"The second booster dose of COVID-19 vaccination for immunity is still prioritized for 8.584 health workers, because this group has a risk of exposure in their duties," said Otto Parorongan at the declaration of the second booster dose of COVID-19 vaccination at the West Papua Province level in Sanggeng Manokwari Village, Monday, August 8.

Parorongan said in the declaration of the COVID-19 vaccination, the second booster dose was marked by giving the first injection to 100 health workers, and it was simultaneously implemented in 13 districts and cities in West Papua.

He explained that according to the direction of the Minister of Health, the second booster vaccine for West Papua health workers was adjusted to the type of vaccine used when receiving the first booster dose.

Parorongan said that the second booster dose of COVID-19 vaccination services for health workers is available at all vaccination service places. Services are also still carried out for the general public who have not received the first, second and third (booster) vaccine doses.

"The coverage of the COVID-19 vaccination specifically for West Papua health workers is until August 7, 2022, for the first dose of 127.1 percent from 8.584 health workers, the second dose of 116.7 percent, and the third dose or first booster 73 percent," said Parorongan as quoted by Antara.
