Fraud Gathering Dealer, A Police's Wife In Banjarmasin Is Sentenced To 1.9 Years In Prison

SOUTH KALIMANTAN - A fraud online social gathering dealer, the wife of a police officer with the initials RA in Banjarmasin, South Kalimantan (Kalsel) was sentenced to 1 year and 9 months in prison.

The panel of judges chaired by Heru Kuncoro during a verdict reading session at the Banjarmasin District Court, Monday, August 1.

"The defendant was also sentenced to pay restitution or losses to the victims worth more than IDR 650 million," said Heru when reading the judge's decision.

If the defendant is unable to pay the victims' losses, the confiscated evidence will be auctioned off and the proceeds will be paid for restitution.

Hearing the verdict, the defendant who attended the online trial of the Martapura Women's Correctional Institution (LPP) submitted legal steps to the verdict to his legal adviser who expressed his thoughts.

"On the decision handed down by the panel, we will think about it first," said Syahrani, the defendant's attorney.

The same thing was conveyed by the public prosecutor (JPU) Radityo Wisnu Aji who stated that he was thinking about a lighter verdict than the prosecutor's demands.

Previously, the Public Prosecutor demanded that the defendant be jailed for 2 years and 6 months. Then he was asked to pay restitution for the loss of six victims caused by his actions.

Although the verdict will be finalized, there are still a number of other cases that will block RA from being tried.

The reason is, the loss of around IDR 650 million or more is not the total loss of the other social gathering victims who are also the policemen's wife.

The results of the police investigation, the defendant RA carried out a fictitious online social gathering practice with the number of victims recorded as many as 320 people and a total loss of IDR 11 billion.
