Basarnas Searches For Missing Fishermen In The Waters Of Tanjung Lelemo, North Buton

JAKARTA - The Kendari National Search and Rescue Agency (Basarnas) conducted a search operation for a fisherman named La Ode Zaeru (58) who was reported missing while at sea in the waters of Tanjung Lelemo, North Buton Regency, Southeast Sulawesi.

Head of the Kendari Basarnas Aris Sofingi in Kendari, Sunday, said his party received information about the incident from the victim's family named Salam.

"At 05.56 WITA, Mr. Salam, a family member of the victim, reported that on July 30, 2022 at 12.00 WITA, there had been a shipwreck against one person who was fishing around Tanjung Lelemo waters, North Buton," Aris said as quoted by Antara.

Following up on the report, the Kendari Basarnas dispatched a rescue team from the Wakatobi SAR Post to the location where the victim was reported to have had a ship accident.

"The rescue team went to the location where the victim had an accident at 06.15 WITA. The Wakatobi SAR Post Rescue Team used RIB to provide SAR assistance," he explained.

La Ode Zaeru, a resident of Pebaoa Village, North Kulisusu District, North Buton, was previously reported out to sea on Saturday (30/7) at around 09.30 WITA using a long boat around the waters of Tanjung Lelemo.

"The victim's habit returned at 13.00 WITA. But at 12.00 WITA the victim's longboat was found without the victim on the longboat by a passing ship," said Aris.

A search has been carried out by the family and local residents but with no results so the incident was reported to the Kendari Basarnas.
