Parigi Moutong Flood, Central Sulawesi Is As High As An Adult's Chest, Residents Need Logistics And Baby Equipment
Central Sulawesi - Residents affected by the flood accompanied by mud that hit Torue Village, Parigi Moutong Regency, Central Sulawesi (Sulteng) need logistical assistance and baby equipment.
"The urgent need right now is the logistics of food and baby supplies," said Torue Village Head, Kalman M Andi Hamid, when met in Torue, Parigi Moutong, Friday, July 29.
He revealed, due to this flood, a number of residents fled to safer locations for fear of further flooding.
Kalman said the flood had claimed three lives. The other four residents are still missing.
"The data reported are still temporary. The current condition of the water has receded, but there has been a power outage," said Kalman.
Kalman said the SAR team had evacuated the victims who died.
"Currently we cannot do much. Residents have been evacuated to safe places," he said.
Heavy rains with high intensity caused two rivers in Torue Village to overflow, submerging residential areas up to the chest level of adults on Thursday, July 28, at around 21.00 central Indonesia time.
From this disaster, it was reported that five villages of Torue Sub-district were affected including Torue Village, Astina, Purwosari, West Tolai, and Tolai Village.
"Torue Village, the worst affected villages are in Village two, Village Tiga, Village five," said Kalman.

In the same place, the head of the Parigi Moutong DPRD, Sayutin Budianto, asked the Parigi Moutong Regency Government to immediately establish an emergency response status in Torue District, considering the current conditions. "Residents need medicine, logistics, emergency tents to evacuate. For the time being, residents are taking refuge in their relatives' houses, mosques, and village offices," said Sayutin.
The victim who died as a result of this disaster was a local resident named Kasmin Toki (50 years old).
While the other two who died were passers-by named Mato (50 years) and Aneke Solong (44 years). Both were crossing from the direction of Poso Regency.
Until now there has been no further information from the Parigi Moutong Regency Government regarding the amount of damage caused by the flood.
