PLN Cooperates With BSSN To Form The First Cyber Incident Response Team In The Energy Sector

JAKARTA - PT PLN (Persero) cooperates with the National Cyber and Crypto Agency (BSSN) to launch the Cyber Incident Response Team/CSIRT.

This collaboration makes PLN through its subsidiary, PT Pembangkitan Jawa-Bali (PJB) the first energy company in Indonesia to implement a cybersecurity response system.

This synergy is expected to improve the security of the digital infrastructure of business entities engaged in power generation.

Previously, the cooperation between PLN and BSSN had been carried out since 2019 in various initiatives and was extended in a memorandum of understanding signed in Jakarta on June 28, 2022.

Head of BSSN, Lt. Gen. Indonesian Army (TNI) (Ret.) Hinsa Siburian assesses that this synergy is important and must be built in order to achieve collective digital security.

"This synergy, collaboration and commitment to cooperation between PLN and BSSN will improve the security of PJB's digital infrastructure, considering that as a power generation company, PJB has entered the generation digitization phase," said Hinsa in an official statement, Thursday, July 28.

Through this collaboration, PJB gets an official Registration Certificate (STR) from BSSN and has the right to get priority in information sharing related to cyber-attack incidents/trends, especially from CSIRT Global in the world through the Indonesia Security Incident Response Team on Internet Infrastructure/Coordination Center (IDSIRTII/ CC).

In addition to this, PJB will also receive special attention from the National Security Operation Center (NSOC) for unreasonable traffic that leads to PJB.

PLN's Director of Finance and Risk Management, Sinthya Roesly said, the PLN Group, including PJB, is currently in the digital transformation phase, where security is a vital factor.

Synergy with BSSN is one of PLN Group's efforts to strengthen the security of the digital infrastructure.

"The PJB-CSIRT that we are launching today is a form of our seriousness and consistency in seeking to improve system and data protection to accelerate the achievement of digital transformation targets in the PLN Group," said Sinthya.

In line with Sinthya, the President Director of PT PJB, Gong Matua Hasibuan welcomed this inter-institutional cooperation.

According to him, along with the development of this digital era, competence and synergy between institutions in the field of digital security are also needed.

One of them is through collaboration with BSSN.

"We want to give the highest appreciation to BSSN who have professionally collaborated with us, making PJB proud as the first energy sector company to implement CSIRT in Indonesia," said Gong Matua.
