White House Is Not Making Maximum Effort To Bring WNBA Basketball Player Brittney Griner Home From Russian Prison
JAKARTA - For Trevor Reed, a retired Marine who was released from a Russian prison last April, the White House has not done its best to bring Brittney Griner home.
Reed was released after negotiations with the Kremlin in a prisoner swap.
Russia has repatriated Konstantin Yaroshenko - described by some media as a drug dealer - who was jailed for more than two years.
Meanwhile, speaking of Griner, Reed believes that the US government has the power to get the WNBA player out of a Russian prison.
"I can't say 100 percent what the White House did or didn't do - that's definitely not public information", Reed said at Hallie Jackson NOW.
"But I think the White House has the ability to get them out very quickly, and they've obviously chosen not to do that. So no, I don't think they're doing enough."

Despite the subtle criticism of the current government with regards to Griner, Reed was grateful for what they had done for him.
"I think it was an ethical decision, and I think they did the right thing. [Biden] ended up making that decision - it had to come from above", he said.
"And, you know, I'm grateful for that. And I appreciate that. But I think, you know, he has a responsibility to keep doing the right thing."
