Haagen-Dazs Ice Cream Discontinued For Containing EtO, Tanjungpinang Food and Drugs Agency Ensures Supervision Of Circulation In The Market
TANJUNGPINANG - Head of the Food and Drug Supervisory Agency (BPOM) of Tanjungpinang City Rai Gunawan ensured that Haagen-Dazs ice cream products were not circulating in the Tanjungpinang area, Riau Islands.
This follows the temporary suspension of the distribution of vanilla Haagen-Dazs ice cream in the market.
BPOM RI last Tuesday announced the temporary suspension of the distribution of Haagen-Dazs vanilla ice cream products in pint packaging and mini cups on the market in Indonesia because they contain Ethylene Oxide (EtO) exceeding the threshold allowed by the European Union.
"In Tanjungpinang, there is no official distributor of Haagen-Dazs products. We have also checked directly in the field during routine inspections, indeed there have been no findings," said Rai Gunawan in Tanjungpinang, Antara, Thursday, July 21.
He said that the BPOM carried out supervision to ensure ice cream products that were withdrawn from the market were not circulating in the Tanjungpinang area.
"The POM Agency continues to monitor the withdrawal process by importers and distributors throughout Indonesia," he said.
The BPOM RI received information from the European Union Rapid Alert System for Food and Feed (EURASFF) that the Ethylene Oxide content of the Haagen-Dazs vanilla ice cream product in pint and mini cup packaging exceeded the limit allowed by the European Union, so it decided to temporarily stop the circulation of the product in the market. Indonesian territory.
The BPOM RI has instructed importers to withdraw the ice cream products from the market and temporarily stop the sale of other Haagen Dazs brand ice cream products containing vanilla flavor until the safety of the product is confirmed.
