PMI Sprays Disinfectant For Flood Affected Houses In Tangerang, For What?

BANTEN - The Indonesian Red Cross (PMI) Tangerang City sprayed environmentally friendly disinfectant with "eco enzyme" liquid to locations affected by the flood disaster.

"The spraying of environmentally friendly disinfectant liquid is carried out to prevent the emergence of germs after the flood disaster," said PMI Tangerang City Head, Oman Jumansyah in Tangerang, Monday, July 18.

He explained that the spraying was carried out for flood-affected locations such as the Puri Kartika Ciledug Housing, Tangerang City.

The spraying of environmentally friendly disinfectants, he said, was an effort to anticipate the spread of disease in areas that were previously flooded.

It is feared that the water, mud, and waste materials carried by the flood will carry germs that can threaten environmental health.

"Eco-enzyme disinfectant liquid is very effective and the reaction is fast to kill all microorganisms such as viruses, bacteria and fungi," said Oman.

Head of the Tangerang City PMI Disaster Management Division Agus Gilang Prabowo added that this liquid has a long residual action and is influenced by organic matter.

So, he continued, it is non-toxic and does not cause irritation to the skin and eyes and is not corrosive.

"This action is carried out to anticipate the potential risks that may occur and the impact after the flood, such as the spread of diseases including diarrhea, leptospirosis, dengue hemorrhagic fever (DHF) and others," he said.

In addition to spraying environmentally friendly disinfectant liquid, PMI Tangerang City also distributed the eco-enzyme liquid to affected communities.

"So it can do the spraying independently periodically," he said.
