Easing The Investment, Ministry Of Energy And Mineral Resources-BKPM Perfects Mining Licensing Services
JAKARTA - The Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) held a Working Meeting (Raker) with the Ministry of Investment / Investment Coordinating Board (BKPM).
"We are synchronizing the program of the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources with the Ministry of Investment / BKPM to make it more perfect, so that it will facilitate the flow of investment into the country, including our existing systems, especially at the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources," said Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Arifin Tasrif in an official statement, Wednesday, July 6.
The meeting also highlighted the transfer of authority to grant permits, which Arifin acknowledged needed the support of adequate systems and personnel.
"The transition process of transferring authority from the regions to the center does have a lot of improvements too, suddenly there is such a large workload, because of that we really have to prepare the system and supporting staff," said Arifin.
Meanwhile, Investment Minister Bahlil Lahadalia revealed that the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources and Investment cannot be separated, especially in terms of granting permits.
"The Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources and the Ministry of Investment are actually like currency, eleven and twelve, can not be separated, especially in the licensing process for minerals and coal (Minerba), so we are synchronizing related to revocation of permits, structuring SOPs to speeding up and transparency," he said.

Bahlil emphasized that this meeting was also an effort by the two ministries to speed up the issuance of permits.
"What the Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources said earlier is correct, our nature is to speed things up, we accelerate licensing, how do we implement permits transparently," he said.
"We are trying so that there are no different views. I and the Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources continue to communicate, therefore, at the lower level, the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources and the Ministry of Investment need to improve, so that what is above and what is below is the same. A is above, A is also below, roughly so," concluded Bahlil.
