Malaysia Masters 2022: Rehan/Lisa Unable To Contain The First Seed From Thailand

JAKARTA - Mixed doubles Rehan Naufal Kusharjanto/Lisa Ayu Kusumawati were eliminated in the early rounds of the 2022 Malaysia Masters. They lost to first seed from Thailand, Dechapol Puavaranukroh/Sapsiree Taerattanachai.

Appearing at the Axiata Arena, Malaysia, on Wednesday, July 6, Western Indonesian Time (WIB), Rehan/Lisa struggled for 32 minutes. The Indonesian pair gave up two straight games with a score of 11-21 and 16-21.

Rehan/Lisa's struggle has been tough since the beginning of the first game. Had a 3-3 draw but the representatives of Thailand continued to move away until finally winning 11-8 in the first interval.

After the first game interval, Rehan/Lisa even lost the pattern of the game. Both of them often make their own mistakes which are gifts for Dechapol/Sapsiree.

This can be used by opponents who then secure victory in the first game with a score of 21-11.

Continuing to the second game, Thailand's mixed doubles performance actually made Rehan/Lisa look difficult from the start. Tough defense and clever ball placement could bring them 11-9 ahead over Rehan/Lisa at the interval of the second game.

After the interval, the Dechapol/Sapsiree game became more aggressive because it had gained six points in a row. Left behind long after, Rehan/Lisa finally gave up after the final points were secured again by Dechapol/Sapsiree with a score of 21-16.
